A doctor of osteopathic medicine candidate at the Western University of Health Sciences, Ruhi Patil builds upon an academic career that includes a master of science in global medicine/management from the University of Southern California and a bachelor of science in biology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). While enrolled as UCLA, Ruhi Patil received a Chancellor's Service Award.

Bestowed on an annual basis, the UCLA Chancellor's Service Award honors graduating UCLA undergraduates who have made outstanding contributions to the University and/or the greater Los Angeles area through conscientious community service. This award is open to any final-year undergraduate student with a strong and sustained record of volunteerism and/or leadership.

Chosen by a panel of UCLA staff members, Chancellor's Service Award winners wear a special blue and gold fourragere during the UCLA commencement ceremony. Their names also appear in a special section of the official commencement program, and they receive other exclusive opportunities that vary from year to year.

About Ruhi Patil

Currently working toward her doctor of osteopathic medicine at the Western University of Health Sciences, Ruhi Patil engages as curriculum representative, one of a half dozen positions within the school’s student government. Ruhi Patil is tasked with voting on resolutions and funding initiatives on behalf of the student body and engages with faculty in ensuring that curriculum changes are enacted for students.

Ms. Patil also serves as Montclair Clinic coordinator and manages the work of volunteers at the clinic, which offers discount care to the uninsured in the local community. She is tasked with ensuring that paperwork is completed and that operations run seamlessly. Her medical studies are in the area of osteopathic medicine.

Ms. Patil previously earned a master’s degree in global medicine and management at the University of Southern California and served as senator in the school government. Among her accomplishments was creating a resolution focused on providing support to students who were in danger of losing financial aid.

Ruhi Patil completed her undergraduate studies in biology cum laude at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she served as internal vice president of the Indian Student Union and president of the Hindu Students Association.
